Is it time to blossom?

So often we put things off, and tell ourselves that it isn’t that bad, or that others have it worse. We live through challenging circumstances, plodding on, surviving not living, and desperately hoping that time will ease it. We tell ourselves it’s silly that we feel like this or that it’s not that bad or we should be over it by now. If it was a friend struggling, we’d support and help them through it, and yet, we feel like we’d be burdening people by dumping our stuff on them.

People often tell me they’ve been putting off counselling for months or years. I love the quote pictured because it sums up how it feels safer to stick with the pain we know – the depression, the anxiety, the loneliness, the emptiness. We don’t like it, but there’s something safe about it – we know what to expect. Change feels threatening and risky. We don’t know what it will involve or what will happen. So we wait until life becomes sufficiently exhausting that we feel like we can’t carry on as it is anymore, and start to contemplate taking the risk to reach out, to ask for help.

I can help. I’m passionate about helping you find new perspective, and help you make the changes you’d like to. This can include offering a safe space to explore any difficult experiences which you still feel affect you.
