How Can You Rewind Trauma?

Sometimes life happens. Bad things happen, unexpected things happen, traumatic things happen. Trauma can affect your body, mind and feelings, leaving you feeling like the world isn’t a safe place, and even your body isn’t a safe place. It can impact your sleep, eating habits, work, relationships and all aspects of life. It can feel like you don’t know who you are anymore and can feel like life can never be the same again. Life becomes about survival rather than thriving or living your best life.

There is no magic formula to go back in time and prevent things from happening. But there is a technique called the Rewind Technique developed by David Muss that can treat trauma, PTSD and phobias. Research has shown that it has approximately an 80% success rate.

The main benefit of it is that it only takes 2 sessions. It doesn’t involve telling the story of what happened or talking through details, and is quite straightforward to do. It can offer immediate relief from flashbacks and nightmares and thinking about what happened when you don’t want to. There are no guarantees that it will work for you, but with a good success rate and only needing a couple of sessions, then it is well worth trying. It can be effective whether you have experienced, witnessed or perpetrated an event, or even heard about something traumatic and found it distressing.

The Rewind Technique can be done as a standalone therapy or incorporated into counselling. You won’t forget what has happened, but hopefully it will feel more like it is in the past and you can think about it when you choose, rather than thinking about it involuntarily and experiencing unwanted sympoms relating to it.

If you’d like to find out more or whether Rewind is right for you, then message me and we can either arrange a 15 minute free phone call or an initial meeting.
